Examples: Toned Milk → ₹60 for 1 litre. Bread → ₹45 for 16 pc. Delivery box → ₹900 for 100 pc. Put boxes, containers, bags, cutlery and stickers in the category Packaging so they are shown as packaging cost.
Wastage % = the share you pay for but can't use (peels, trimmings, spillage, leftover in the pack). E.g. onions with 12% wastage: 1 kg bought gives only 880 g usable, so each usable gram costs more.

Appliances & electricity

Find it on your electricity bill: total bill amount ÷ units consumed. Commercial connections are often ₹8–12 per unit.
The wattage is printed on the appliance label or in its manual (e.g. induction 2000 W, air fryer 1500 W, microwave 1200 W, mixer 750 W). Then in tab 2, add how many minutes each menu item uses an appliance, and the electricity cost is added to its COGS.

Always-on appliances (fixed monthly electricity: deep freezer, fridge, lights, exhaust fan…)

A freezer or fridge compressor switches on and off, so it doesn't draw its full wattage all day. For a freezer that's on 24 hours, enter about 10–12 hours, or use the units per day on its star-rating label.

Menu items & COGS

Menu itemZomato priceOffline price
COGS = food + packaging + electricity (ingredients in a category named "Packaging" count as packaging; electricity comes from the appliances added to each item). Platform fees = the discount you fund + commission + payment fee + GST on those fees. Net profit = selling price − platform fees − COGS: what you actually keep per order. Click an item name to see COGS, fees, profit, suggested price and the full breakdown.
Profit % colour: green = meets your target, amber = slightly below, red = well below. Suggested = the lowest Zomato/Swiggy price that meets your target profit. Offline price = the price for customers you sell to directly. By default it earns you the same profit as a Zomato order of that item (plus your own delivery cost), so customers still save the platform fees and you earn no less. COGS updates automatically whenever an ingredient price changes.
The ▲ ▼ arrows to rearrange items and categories only appear while the order is unlocked: click 🔒 Order locked to unlock, rearrange, then click it again to lock. Click Mark final on an item once its costing and price are done: its row turns green. If its COGS or price changes later, the row turns amber so you know to re-check it.

First-time setup (about 5 minutes)
  1. Go to sheets.new to create a blank Google Sheet. Name it something like Kitchen COGS.
  2. In that sheet, click Extensions → Apps Script. Delete everything in the editor, paste the script below, and click the 💾 Save icon.
  3. Click Deploy → New deployment. Click the ⚙ gear next to "Select type" and choose Web app. Set Execute as: Me and Who has access: Anyone, then click Deploy.
  4. Google asks for permission: click Authorize access → choose your account → on the "Google hasn't verified this app" screen click Advanced → Go to (your project name) (unsafe) → Allow. Google shows this warning for every personal script. This one only works with this one sheet.
  5. Copy the Web app URL (it ends in /exec), paste it below, click Generate, then Connect.
The tabs Ingredients, Menu COGS, Recipe Lines and Price History in your sheet are rebuilt by the app every time you save. Make changes in the app, not in the sheet: anything typed directly into those tabs gets overwritten. Don't delete the hidden _app_data tab; it holds the app's full data.
